Since most people get the imminent desire to bake pumpkin pies, drink a good red wine and have a celebration at the end of the brooding summers, planning a
Fall harvest party seems like a great way to usher in the fall season. You can get the feelings of a Thanksgiving party without the annoying relatives, the football and the pressure. You can just enjoy with your family and friends on a weekend
Fall season is really just about keeping things casual, laid-back and hassle free. Here are some tips to make your next celebration one that combines friends and family for a great time.
Invitations: Rather than spending time, money and energy, send invites to your loved friends and family using email invites on the various sites available. It's totally casual, very economical and you'll save a tree by emailing.
Decor: If you decide to host the
Fall harvest party in an outdoor location, get yourself a few basic picnic tables from your local home improvement store. Use some basic burlap as a runner, plain white dishware and inexpensive stemware. You can place bales of hay to fence the party area in. You can even have a bonfire outside, if the weather is accommodating.
Food: Ask the guests to bring their favorite fall dishes and get a big roasted turkey yourself. This will help you unload the burden of cooking a lot and everybody will get a chance to share their culinary skills. A few recommended fall dishes include comfort food like Cabbage and pear salad mesclun salad, roasted fall veggies, crusty French bread with an assortment of cheeses and quiches.
Desert might include pumpkin pie, apple pie, cinnamon-infused vanilla ice cream and other seasonal pies. You can search online and find great recipes for all the mentioned dishes. Or ask your friends to bring it all in, like I said previously.
Drinks: Have a variety of drinks available like Lemonade, Iced tea, Soda, Hot apple cider, Beer and some nice

red Wine. You may also want to serve a few special hard liquor drinks to your guests. Pick up the ingredients needed for one or two special drinks like a rum punch or an apple martini. Just use some basic wine glasses you can pick up anywhere to serve the drinks.
For The Kids: You need some activities to keep the children occupied to make the party proceed smoothly. Children's play trucks, tractors, and farm sets can be placed around the room. A few fall craft favors like decorating fall cookies or mini pumpkins, are also good to have on hand for the kids. Also, you can keep the kids content just by providing glitter, glue and construction paper.
Have fun on your casual and laid back
Fall harvest party!
